SUR 101 Introduction to Surgical Technology

Course Description

This course includes a study of the surgical environment, team concepts, aseptic technique, hospital organization, basic instrumentation and supplies, sterilization, principles of infection control, and wound healing. Prerequisites with a grade of “C” or higher: AHS 102, BIO 112 (or BIO 210 and BIO 211), MAT 155, and ENG 101. Corequisites: SUR 102 and SUR 104. This course is typically taught only in the fall semester.
