CCTC Announces NISOD Excellence Award Recipients
Central Carolina Technical College is proud to announce its recipients of the annual National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards.
The NISOD Excellence Awards were established in 1991 to provide NISOD member colleges with an opportunity to recognize individuals doing extraordinary work on their campuses. Since then, more than 30,000 recipients have been honored with the award by their colleges. NISOD member colleges submit the names of men and women each year who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues. All individuals whose names are submitted are recognized as NISOD Excellence Award recipients.
The Excellence Awards tradition gives NISOD the privilege of honoring many of our community colleges’ best educators. We are indebted to NISOD member colleges for their continuing support of this annual celebration. While the pomp and circumstance of the Excellence Awards Program is conducted with a refined touch, the overarching statement is that teaching and leading on the front lines of the community college mission rest on the shoulders of these outstanding individuals.
The 2022 honorees include Dr. Christina James, accounting and management department chair; Sally Thornton, history instructor; William (Bill) Hargrove, mechatronics instructor; Mary Johnson, medical record coding program manager; Walter (Butch) Presson, water and wastewater program manager; and Amanda Humphries, english instructor.
Central Carolina was selected as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges by NISOD and “Diverse: Issues in Higher Education,” the nation’s biweekly newsmagazine dedicated exclusively to diversity issues in higher education.
CCTC was one of 24 colleges selected to receive this award to recognize workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment. “At Central Carolina, we work hard to emphasize and enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in everything we do for our students, faculty, staff and communities. It is an honor to receive this national recognition as it showcases our focus on workplace diversity,” says Vice President for Institutional Advancement Misty Hatfield.
