CCTC Foundation board of trustees welcomes Maria Watson
Sumter, S.C. – The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation, Inc. recently named Maria Watson of Lee County as a new member to its governing board.
Watson, of Bishopville, is a graduate of Francis Marion University, Lesley University and Nova Southeastern University. She recently retired as the Head of School from Robert E. Lee Academy in Lee County. Watson has also served on the Board of Directors at Robert E. Lee Academy.
The Central Carolina Technical College Foundation board of trustees is comprised of community leaders from the college’s service area of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties. The mission of the foundation is to establish, grow and manage resources that serve as a catalyst to create educational opportunities and enhance academic excellence within the college’s service area.
Established in 1977, the foundation provides support to the college to enhance its efforts to prepare students to enter the job market and achieve their professional goals. Over the 43 year history, the foundation has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships to more than 3,500 students.
Watson and her husband, Ritchie, have four sons. One son is a 2019 graduate of Central Carolina and another is enrolled in the Welding program this fall.
