Central Carolina Technical College receives grant from Wells Fargo Bank
Funds to provide equipment for the new Advanced Manufacturing Technology Training Center
SUMTER, S.C. – Central Carolina Technical College recently received a $15,000 grant from Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., in support of the College’s job training and workforce development initiatives.
“Wells Fargo fully believes that supporting education is one of the most important investments we can make in our country’s future,” said Paul Robbins, Wells Fargo Sumter market president and senior business relationship manager. “We are honored to work together with educational organizations like Central Carolina Technical College to help create a competitive workforce and a sustainable economy for generations to come.”
CCTC will use the funds to purchase equipment for its state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Technology Training Center in Sumter, which is scheduled for its Grand Opening on October 15, 2015. The center is home to training facilities for Continental Tire the Americas, as well as other industries and businesses in the local community. It will also be the site of three expanded CCTC industrial programs: Mechatronics Technology, Engineering Graphics Technology and Machining and CNC Technology.
“This funding will be directly tied to workforce development by providing students with quality training and resources required by the new and existing businesses and industries within the College’s four-county area,” says Dr. Tim Hardee, president of Central Carolina Technical College. Those counties include Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter.
The College’s job training and workforce development initiative offers resources to help students find employment with a livable wage and teaches students how to excel in the workplace. CCTC’s manufacturing technology enhances the learning experience of students, including disadvantaged students and first-generation college students, as they progress to careers in business and industry in the College’s service area.
