Central Carolina Technical College officially opened a courtyard called the Green Space at its main campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday morning.
The Green Space replaced an asphalt parking lot behind the 100 and 500 buildings on the main campus.
The space was designed for students to gather and serves as an outdoor environment for people to enjoy. The project started in spring 2020 and features paved sidewalks, trees, benches, chairs, a terrace and grass yard. Wi-Fi is available, and multiple power outlets for devices can be accessed in the courtyard.
“We are thrilled to have the space and looking forward to our community coming in and sharing it with us,” CCTC President Kevin Pollock said during the opening ceremony.
Through funding from the state, the college is currently offering a tuition-free semester and anticipates carrying that into future semesters.
