Myles Williams named new VP for Academic Affairs

Central Carolina Technical College has selected Myles Williams to serve as CCTC’s new Vice President of Academic Affairs, effective August 16. “It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to serve CCTC as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and to continue to improve the educational possibilities for the students in our service area.” Central Carolina Technical College President Dr. Michael Mikota says, “Myles will be a superb Vice President of Academic Affairs.  He understands and values the unique mission and potential of Central Carolina Technical College and has a first-class mind and heart.  He is highly regarded by the faculty and staff, and during his tenure as Dean of General Education he demonstrated extraordinary judgment and passion for students, the college, and the community as a whole.  I look forward to working closely with him in this new capacity.”

Williams has been with the college since 2008 and has served as an instructor, department chair of the Speech, Humanities and Social Sciences Department, and most recently as Dean of General Education. In 2016 he was recognized as Administrator of the Year for Central Carolina Technical College. He previously held positions at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, South Carolina and the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, South Carolina where he was Program Manager for the Associate Degree in Tennis Club Management.

Williams enjoyed more than 25 years in the tennis teaching and coaching industry and served as the Director of Education for the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) before his transition to higher education. The PTR is an international tennis certification organization with headquarters located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

A native of Anna Maria Island, Florida, Williams holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He completed a Master of Science degree in psychology from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. His areas of study were comparative psychology, sociobiology and behavior modification.

Still an avid tennis player, Williams also enjoys hiking and the outdoors and has completed the South Carolina Master Naturalist Program.
