Health Sciences Division pins 53 students
Central Carolina Technical College pins a total of 53 new
patient care technicians, pharmacy technicians and nurses
SUMTER, S.C. – Central Carolina Technical College’s Health Sciences Division pinned seven new patient care technicians, 10 new pharmacy technicians and 36 new nurses during three pinning ceremonies. The Patient Care and Pharmacy Technician ceremonies were held on Wednesday, May 4 in the Iris Room of CCTC’s Health Sciences Center, and the Associate Degree in Nursing pinning was held on Thursday, May 6 at the Sumter Opera House, both located in downtown Sumter.
The Health Sciences Division offers an Associate Degree in Nursing; Diplomas in Medical Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Surgical Technology; and certificates in Massage Therapy, Medical Record Coding, and Pharmacy Technology. Health Sciences programs are designed to provide graduates with immediate employment in the healthcare industry or prepare graduates to transfer to articulating colleges.
Patient Care Technicians
Patient care technicians must complete certificates in Nursing Assistance, Cardiac Care and Phlebotomy. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination. With the passing of this exam and listing on the South Carolina Nurse Aide Registry, the student is entitled to work as a Certified Nursing Aide in South Carolina. Associate Degree in Nursing
Graduates of the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program are prepared for careers as technical nurses in acute care, long-term care or home health settings. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and are approved by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation Board of Nursing. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Members of this year’s Associate Degree in Nursing graduating class are listed by county:
